Information About Scam Job Postings

It has been brought to our attention that certain individuals have been scamming content writers by posting on other platforms using The Content Panel’s name and the names of our employees.

This is unfortunately a common scam that is targeting most major content writing services in the industry.

Are you unsure if you are dealing with a scammer? Contact us at admin@thecontentpanel.com and we’ll let you know.

What platforms have the scammers been found on?

We have seen this scam operating on peopleperhour.com, craigslist.com, and other hiring boards such as indeed.com

Do you post jobs on third-party sites? Could the job posting I have found be real?

We never post advertisements for content writers, copywriters, editors (or any other job position) on any third-party site. If anyone claims to be from The Content Panel on any other job/freelancer site, it is almost certainly a scam.

What do the scams look like?

There may be variations of this scam operating. But often it will go something like this:

  • The scammer posts an advert on a third party hiring site looking for content writers
  • Writers apply for the job
  • The scammer then fraudulently claims to be from The Content Panel and may use the names of our employees
  • They send over a “contract” that often (but not always) requires lots of content to be provided before payment is sent. Again this is made to look like it is from The Content Panel by using the names of our employees.
  • The writer delivers content, and never gets paid by the scammers

How can I know a job offer is genuinely from The Content Panel?

The only place you will ever be asked to write for us is by submitting an application on this page https://thecontentpanel.com/write-for-us.

After your application is approved we will only ever work with you through The Content Panel’s platform

  • We will never offer you jobs via email – jobs are only available on our platform at https://thecontentpanel.com
  • We will never offer you jobs via another platform – jobs are only available on our platform at https://thecontentpanel.com
  • We will never offer you jobs via skype, chat, messenger, telegram etc – jobs are only available on our platform at https://thecontentpanel.com
  • We will never ask you to submit content via email, dropbox, Google drive etc. Content can only by submitted to us on our platform at https://thecontentpanel.com
  • We will never ask you to sign a contract by email, DocuSign, or any other service.
  • We will never ask a writer for money, for any reason, at any time.
  • We will never chat to you on Skype, facebook, or any other third party platform.

What other signs can I look out for in a scammer?

These are not definitive signs, but look out for one or more the following:

  • The scammer uses a generic but official-sounding email from a provider like Gmail or Hotmail. One that has been brought to our attention is contentpanelwriters@gmail.com but there may be others too (it’s easy for them to create a new email address).
  • The scammers seem to use broken English in their chats (we don’t)
  • The scammers provide a “contract” that needs to be signed before work starts. We don’t do this. All of our terms, conditions, and agreements are signed and agreed to when submitting an application on https://thecontentpanel.com/write-for-us.

What are you doing to stop these scammers?

We are working closely with platforms to shut these scammers down and obtain identifying information about them.
