Answers To Our Writers’ Most Frequently Asked Questions
Are you thinking about applying to become a writer at The Content Panel? Here are a few frequently asked questions and answers that should give you a little more insight about what it’s like to write for us.
How And When Do I Get Paid?
We pay all of our writers via PayPal every Monday. There’s no exception to this, and unless you’ve got a PayPal account you won’t be able to write for us.
As an additional layer of security, we request that you use your PayPal address as the primary account address. The email address you sign up with is the only email address we will ever send payment to. If you’ve entered the wrong address or you want to update it, you’ll need to apply again.
We also require that all of our writers possess a verified PayPal account. Verified PayPal accounts are accounts that have had their details checked by PayPal for authenticity. Verifying your account with PayPal is quick, easy, and free – click here to learn how
Applications from unverified PayPal accounts will be rejected.
Note: We understand that you might be keen to get started with your application but have an unverified PayPal account. Due to this, you can start an application without a verified PayPal account, however, before you submit the application your PayPal account will need to be verified.
How Much Will I Get Paid?
Different jobs have different levels of Pay. Longer form content with a higher word count pays more than shorter content with a lower word count.
When you first join us you’ll probably only have access to our shortest and lowest paying jobs (300 words for $12). However, with a few good reviews (or an exceptional application) you’ll be fast-tracked to 600-word jobs, which pay $24.
Our highest paid jobs (1000 words and above) are reserved for writers who have been with us for a while and have earned enough positive client feedback for our Panel Brain ranking system to deem you suitable for the gigs.
Is There A Minumum Payout Threshold?
No, we think the concept of having to earn a minimum amount before you’re eligible for payment is terrible. Regardless of how much you’ve earned, we’ll pay your invoices every Monday.
Can I Use The Content In My Portfolio Or Use My Real Name?
No. When a client purchases your work you are transferring complete and perpetual ownership of the content and all of its rights over to the client. You have no claim to the content’s use or distribution whatsoever. Publishing it in any form in any place (even in a portfolio) will be a violation of international copyright law.
Our clients remain anonymous, and many of them do not want their customers to know that their blog is not written by an in-house team. Breaking this confidentiality (e.g linking from your portfolio to the content you have written for a client when it is published on the client’s website) is a direct violation of our terms of service, and may result in legal action being taken against you.
Do You Need Editors?
Yes and no. We have editors working with us, and they have all been selected from our top writers. We will contact you if we think you’re eligible for an editorial position, so please don’t reach out to us about this.
How Much Experience Do I Need?
We judge writers on the quality of their content, not the length of their resume.
That being said, if you’re an established writer with a demonstrable portfolio, there’s a good chance we will fast track you to the higher paying jobs in our system after one or two gigs.
What makes us different to other services is that we offer our clients access to writers that often have real-world experience in the industry that they are in. This understandably means that many of our best writers have no portfolio or formal writing experience when they apply to us (because they’ve been busy specializing in whatever area of professional expertise they’re telling us they want to write about).
If you’ve got a passion for writing, or you feel like you’ve got a way with words (but you don’t have any demonstrable experience) then please do apply. We regularly manually check our writers work when they join us, and our application process is very good at allowing inexperienced yet talented writers into our community.
Just remember, we expect professional levels of quality, and no leeway will be given for inexperience. This means we’re looking for engaging content, delivered within the deadline, that’s 100% error free.
Where Can I Work From?
We only accept native speakers into our talent pool, however, the physical location of where you work from doesn’t matter to us. Many of our best writers are remote workers (or “Digital Nomads”) and providing you have a stable internet connection and are able to meet deadlines, you can write for us from anywhere in the world.
What Industries Do You Need Writers In?
Every industry on the planet.
Our clients come from all over the world and are in almost every industry imaginable. We aim to work with writers from all walks of professional and personal life to grow the collective experience of our talent pool and provide our clients with industry-relevant content written by people who know what they’re writing about.
How Many Typos / Spelling Mistakes / Grammar Goofs Are Acceptable?
None. Zero. Zilch. Zip.
Our clients expect content that is ready to copy, paste, and publish, and as such, we expect all of our writers to deliver professional-grade content (which means we expect it to be properly proofread). Our systems automatically flag content for manual review when they detect potential typos or grammatical errors. You’re unlikely to be penalized for a single typo, but be aware that our tolerance for errors like this is very low and is judged over time per account, not per piece of content.
Your internal Panel Brain ranking can be severely affected by typos / grammatical mistakes, and your job eligibility may drop to the very lowest levels even with a low number of errors present in your work.
How Much Do I Have To Pay To Write For You?
Nothing, we’ll never ask any of our writers for payment. Ever.
